Kristi Barnes
A student of yoga for the past seventeen years, and dance for nearly
thirty, it wasn't until recently that she discovered
the necessity of these two in her life. She has studied with yogis in her
home state of West Virginia, her second home in Washington, D.C., with Master
Teachers at Kripalu, and with the unbelievably amazing and diverse wealth
of teachers here in the Lowcountry.
In 2003, she truly began to feel what she had been studying all her life
- the mind/body connection - and decided it was time to go deeper into her
practice. She completed her Nia White Belt in March 2004, her Children’s
Yoga Instructor program at Kripalu in 2004, and will complete her 230-level
RYT with Stephanie Keach in October 2005.
Kristi shares her gift for story, movement, and song with children throughout
Charleston, teaching yoga classes in several local schools, and shares her
tremendous gift for play teaching Nia at Spirit Moves. Her own child reminds
her daily of the freshness and purity that children possess. Today she finds
herself learning more from her daughter and students than she could ever
hope to teach!
